These are all works in progress. Expect them to change often. Click "refresh" to make sure you are seeing the most recent ones. I'm also delighted to see that
raw art is popular on people's Web design.
Letting my imagination out to play is an important part of raw art journaling. I'll start with an idea. Usually, at that stage, I use a pencil, so I can make instant changes. After I have something I like, I try it out in pen. I like using Pitt Pens and Microns.
I keep the ideas on 4 x 6 index cards. Most of the work on this page is on 4 x 6 index cards. When I work in my journal, I'll sort through the cards as a way to start writing--a way to clear my thoughts. Sometimes I write first, sometimes I start with a pattern.
Below, on the left, is the index card image of Flow, in color and black and white. Next to it on the right is how I used it on a journal page.
Raw art journaling is about spontaneity, authenticity, and deep satisfaction. It's not about perfection, self-criticism, and doubt.
I teach what I learn at
workshops and classes.
